Our Rwanda Partnership
The Presbytery of Kiskiminetas has a partnership with the Gitarama region of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda. Within this partnership all the Gitarama Presbyterian Churches have been partnered with a church in our Presbytery. Our partner is the Twabumbogo church. We are delighted to share in prayer support with brothers and sisters we are just beginning to know. We have learned about the struggles the people of Rwanda have faced since the 1994 genocide. We are blessed to be prayed for by those who have a deep and vibrant faith.
We had the privilege to host Pastor Eugene and Sister Gertrude on their visit on October of 2007. They shared a gift of a basket from Rwanda filled with love. We keep the basket on the communion table to remind us each Sunday of the partners we have in Christ. Terry Semsick, who grew up at Bethel, has shared her experiences in Rwanda as a member of the Presbytery’s travel team. She will be leading a team from the Presbytery to Rwanda in September of 2008.
In June of 2008 the Bethel Vacation Bible School designated their offering to buy goats for our partner families. Through SonHarvest County Fair and a theme based on the Fruits of the Spirit the children learned about sharing their faith with those in need.
It is our prayer that the partnership can continue to grow as we move into the years ahead.
